2024 Corporate Sustainability Report

The 2024 Sustainability Report showcases our commitment to responsible growth, driven by innovation and accountability, with people, the planet, and local communities at the center.

Following the G4 guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), this document promotes transparency and dialogue with our stakeholders, with the goal of jointly developing projects and initiatives.

EcoVadis

What is EcoVadis?

EcoVadis is a leading global platform for assessing Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainable procurement. The platform is built around the supply chain concept: when a client asks a supplier to complete the EcoVadis questionnaire, it encourages that supplier to adopt the same standards with their own suppliers, creating a ripple effect of responsible practices.

At the end of the assessment, each company receives a score from 0 to 100, helping clients evaluate supplier impact and choose partners that demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability based on real data.

Focus Areas:

  • Environment
  • Labor Practices and Human Rights
  • Ethics
  • Sustainable Procurement

EURPACK and the Gold Medal

EURPACK has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, ranking among the top 5% of companies worldwide for ESG performance. This recognition reflects our ongoing dedication to building a supply chain that is transparent, ethical, and sustainable.

Carbon Footprint

Organizational Carbon Footprint

EURPACK is committed to reducing CO₂ emissions across its production processes and in collaboration with its suppliers.

We conducted our first CO₂ emissions assessment for 2019, following ISO 14064-1:2018.

The LCA (ISO 14040) methodology is used to quantify, monitor, report, and validate the key impact areas, including land use, water use, toxicity, and biodiversity.

Product Carbon Footprint

We are also carrying out product-level carbon footprint analyses in line with ISO 14067:2018 for selected client products. These analyses measure current CO₂ emissions and identify opportunities for reduction, such as adjusting the size of the packaging or modifying components inside the box (for example, switching the tray material from PET to cardboard).

Reforestation Project

We have joined initiatives promoted by Treedom, through which we have already planted 1.702 trees. This concrete action allows us to contribute to the protection of natural resources, reduce CO₂ emissions, and support local communities that directly care for the plantations.

In collaboration with the University of Tuscia and Self Garden, we are implementing the Corporate Forest Project in the industrial area of Aprilia.

The project has a dual purpose: to preserve the existing tree heritage through maintenance interventions and to enrich the natural capital with new plantings, thereby restoring environmental value and enhancing the landscape quality of the area.

On World Environment Day 2022, we planted an additional 500 trees with Treedom, reflecting our commitment to a greener and fairer world. Visit Eurpack’s Packwood Forest to see what happens after the trees are planted.

Renewable Energy

At EURPACK, we use electricity sourced 100% from renewable energy, in compliance with EU Directive 2009/28 and certified through the Guarantee of Origin (GOs).

Our energy supply is distributed as follows:

·       62% hydroelectric power

·       27% geothermal energy

·       10% wind energy

·       1% solar energy

We recognize that the energy transition requires concrete actions to mitigate carbon emissions. For this reason, we have chosen exclusively plants that ensure sustainable and traceable production.

Using renewable energy is an integral part of our journey toward an increasingly responsible production model and represents a key pillar of our Green Packaging strategy.

FSC and PEFC CoC Certifications

FSC and PEFC promote environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically sustainable management of the world’s forests. This ensures responsible forest management.

Meeting these standards guarantees that the wood has not been illegally harvested, does not violate civil rights, and does not threaten areas of high conservation value. Wood must not come from forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use, nor from forests containing genetically modified trees.

The Chain of Custody (CoC) ensures that the wood used in the production process comes from FSC- or PEFC-certified forests.
